New look for Huvafen Fushi

Huvafen Fushi in the Maldives has reopened ahead of schedule following a refurbishment of all bungalows and pavilions and updates to its dining options.

The deluxe beach bungalow category now has a second plunge pool overlooking the ocean on the front deck, which will be lit by fibre optics at night. The resort’s main pool became an iconic image of the Maldives with its fibre optic lighting.

The resort is part of the Per Aquum group, whose chief executive Neil Palmer, said: “Now in its eighth year of operation, it was important to introduce some new concepts that would not only update our flagship property but also ensure we retain our competitive edge within the Maldives.”

The island’s Raw restaurant has a new outdoor lounge area set over the reef, while resort restaurant Celsius now has dedicated cooking stations and a new look and UMBar, the island’s central bar, has also been refreshed.

All bungalows and pavilions have had a soft refurbishment and more space added for guest luggage. The overwater Ocean Pavilion has had a new cocktail bar added and new art installations, while The Cube, the beachfront three-bedroom residence has also been updated.

The island’s “chill out” area The Lair now has books selected from the New York Times bestseller list and a new DVD and music library.

Per Aquum also operates Niyama in the Maldives and Desert Palm in Dubai.
